LE CHIC BOUTIQUE at ULTRASTAR STUDIO
In the Fall of 2004, Apollo and partner/designer Mercedes Sumida opened a Boutique called 'Le Chic Boutique', housed in the front area of Ultrastar Studio. This shoppe gave young, upcoming independent designers a retail outlet to not only showcase their work, but also make it available to the public. During this time, Apollo designed a small line of handbags, earrings, stilettos, and a selection of womens tops which were carried exclusively at Le Chic Boutique. Because of the style of the decor and the selection of items represented, the shoppe was very reminiscent of a 60s London Mod Boutique, carrying many one-of-a-kind items from unique designers. After 2 years, Le Chic Boutique closed its doors to the public.
Below is a one-of-a-kind purse handmade and designed by Apollo Staar.
Materials are: Metallic Gold and Silver Vinyl with metal rings. During a window display showcasing unique 'Art' bags from local artists in Winter of 2005, this purse was stolen. Currently it's whereabouts are unknown.
In addition, 5 other unique handbags were made completing the collection.
Below is a pair of Stilettos custom designed by Apollo. For Spring 2005. Lost during a Gallery Shoe Show in 2005. Present whereabouts unknown.
Below is a few of the handmade Earring Designs from Apollo Staar Couture. The earrings were inspired by the 1968 film, Barbarella. Each pair was handmade and packaged onto a hand cut custom chrome metallic backing. Available during the Summer of 2005.
The earring display with original designs as well as vintage dead stock earrings from the 60s.
